Welcome to Mr. Cruz's Class Page
Mr. Cruz’s k-3 Diverse Learners
My name is Manuel Cruz, and I am a k-3 Diverse Learners teacher at Shoesmith Elementary. I was born and raised in Chicago until my high school years where I went to a suburban school. I completed my undergrad in Administrative Studies at Roosevelt University. Shortly after completing my undergrad I enrolled into the Chicago Teachers Residency Program where I was able to obtain my Masters in Teaching (M.A.T). I have worked in CPS for the last 10 years in various roles. I first started in CPS as a Dean’s Assistant and Assistant Athletic Director for a high school. I then transitioned into a paraprofessional position where I worked with Diverse Learners. I enjoyed working with Diverse Learners so much I decided I wanted to get my teaching license and teach Diverse Learners. Before my residency program I was able to work at Shoesmith and get to know many of the students and school atmosphere. While working at Shoesmith I decided this is where I would love to teach once I complete my residency. This will now by my 3rd year of teaching at Shoesmith Elementary.
Reminders:
Please remember to view your students grade level teachers' website so that you can access and complete your summer work/assignments.
Below you can find my supply list as well as my grading policy for my students.
Very important! Please remember to read at least 30 minutes a day. There are plenty of places where you can get access to free books. Also please have your child spend time on Prodigy so that they can sharpen their math skills as well access extra practice for ELA.
If you have any questions I can be reached at macruz14@cps.edu.
