Dear Shoesmith Students & Families,
Welcome to a new school year! My name is Ms. Delamater and I am very excited to teach you science this year. This is my first year teaching science at Shoesmith, and I look forward to growing, learning, and exploring alongside everyone. I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Teaching Major in Integrated Science last May. After graduating, I was fortunate to complete my internship with the 3rd graders here in the Hive, so I have already gotten to know some of you! Throughout my internship year, I connected with the Shoesmith community and knew it was just where I needed to be.
I have always loved science for the opportunities to discover, investigate, and learn about the world around us. I look forward to bringing out the scientist in each of your scholars and opening up their imaginations to enter a world of discovery. As a teacher, one of my favorite moments is when students have a “lightbulb” or an “Ah-Ha” moment, and I am excited to experience that alongside each and every student.
Feeling connected to each of my students and their families is an essential step to fostering a trusting relationship, so please watch out for messages from me. Don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns, or if you just want to chat! My email is listed below and you can add me on Remind with the class code @stemk3.
I cannot wait to embark on this year with you, and again, feel free to reach out for anything!
Warmly,
Ms. Delamater
